Homo-Ornamentus uses the concept of a key chain not as the holder for physical keys, but as the keeper of more abstract keys. 'The key to elevating one's status', 'The key to success', even, 'The keys to the future'. The gigantic clip can hold many keys, however its weight presses down and keeps the baby from moving. The clip also references the pressure on parents to show unconditional love and make constant sacrifices. The baby as a keychain is the ultimate golden ornament metaphorically chaining our children to the heavy burden of bearing the keys to the future, and to all that is precious to the parents and the family.
